ABOUT

Hannah is a Chicago based writer, teaching artist, and director originally from Nashville, TN. She received her B.S. in Theater with a concentration in directing from Skidmore College. She has studied with the Powerhouse Training Company and is a graduate of the Second City Conservatory program. At Skidmore she directed the blackbox seminar production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. She also produced the 27th annual National College Comedy Festival, originally founded by producer David Miner.

Hannah began her Chicago Directing career as the director of the sketch group, Rosemary’s Other Baby (ROB). ROB is known for their wild and fast paced style of sketch of comedy, often breaking the form and piecing it back together again from scratch. With ROB, Hannah helped develop and direct three full length shows, including the one act play, Stages of Grief.

Combining her background in traditional theatre and her training in sketch and improv comedy, Hannah is interested in works that delve into the absurd, use comedy for levity, and acknowledge that life is not just dramatic or comedic. She most often works on new works, both driven by sketch structure and more traditional playwriting.

As a writer, Hannah focuses on screenplays, sketch, and personal essays. You can read her thoughts on whatever she’s thinking in the moment on her blog.

Since moving to Chicago Hannah has worked with Collaboraction Theatre, iO Theatre, Chicago Immersive, Babes with Blades, 20% Theatre, Annoyance Theater, and The Revival Theater, among others.

Hannah is passionate about youth theater education and uses improv as a tool in all of her classrooms. She is currently a teaching artist at The Revival where she teaches both adult and youth improv. Hannah received her Masters in Education from DePaul University.
